Art Division’s team trip to Bulgaria

With Art Division split between the UK and Bulgaria much of our contact is limited to Skype and email. We have had many new recruits over the past few months so, to continue the great team spirit that Art Division has been built on over the past 10 years, we all (minus Liz and Caragh who sadly couldn’t make it) met up in Koprivshtitza, Bulgaria.

Travelling from the gloomy grey of London to the small village just slightly East of Sofia the British team spent time in the homelands of our many coders and talented programmers. Gathering together on Friday June 3 the reunited team set about learning more about one another face to face, learning that we all had more in common than we had realised!

Our Saturday was taken up with a walk across the beautiful Stara Planina mountain before heading for a team barbeque where we could sit down and really get to know each other and how we all worked remotely. Accompanied by our designer Todor’s dog, Shoto, we skilfully managed to not get food poisoning from our vast array of barbequed meat – all cooked without tongs to turn it!

After our success of a barbeque we wondered around the town’s various museums (where coder Hristo looked far too at home in the old style school) before Nelly beat everyone at pool and narrowly lost the title of ping pong champion to Andrian’s slinky last minute moves.

The whole experience was fantastic for team spirit and the jovial banter has been carried back across Europe and is now continuing via Skype (but we’re still working as well – we promise!).
